I started HB Services to do the kind of AI work that doesn’t fit a bigger consulting shop’s economics — engagements scoped tight, with the senior person on the page from day one. No layered staffing pyramid, no offshoring the interesting parts, no landscape decks billed by the hour.
My background is a Biological Systems Engineering degree — the discipline that teaches you to model messy real-world processes mathematically — and four years building agentic AI systems hands-on. That combination matters more than it sounds. Most AI projects fail because the surrounding system isn’t modeled clearly enough; engineering training gives you the muscle for that, and four years inside the agentic-AI tooling gives you the taste for what’s actually durable.
What that’s added up to, in practice: automated AI pipelines built around production ML models, high-frequency trading systems, agentic 3D-parametric design software, lead-generation and outreach automations, automated accounting systems, self-healing inventory management. The thread across all of it is the same — using AI to streamline a business process so the work moves faster, more reliably, with fewer people in the loop on the parts that don’t need them.
On the consulting side, I’ve worked with hundreds of business owners ranging from solo operators to enterprise teams. The pattern doesn’t change much by size — the questions are always about what to automate, what to keep human, what to measure, and how to keep the whole thing from breaking under its own weight.

How I work, in six lines.
Principal-led, always.
You work with the person whose name is on the page. No staffing pyramid, no junior reassignments, no inherited account team.
Fixed scope, named outcomes.
Every engagement is a contract for a defined thing — not a meter that runs. You know what you’re buying before the kickoff call.
Bias toward shipping.
Strategy that doesn’t end at a deck. Code that ends in production. The deliverable is the thing running, not the document describing it.
Cross-industry by choice.
Pattern transfer beats vertical lock-in. The interesting problems show up in fintech, hospitality, claims, and operations alike — the shape rhymes.
